Laimarie Serrano has the distinction of being married to another big AMTC success story, Roberto Sanchez. However, she is a star in her own right. Says Laimarie, “I got my start at the AMTC in Atlanta in 1992. I placed 2nd in Commercials, 2nd in Photography, and 5th in Runway. You do not always have to place 1st in order to have success! Since AMTC I have been fortunate in this industry from Miami to Mexico City to Puerto Rico, and for the past 3 1/2 years I have been living in Los Angeles. I continue to audition, work, train and grow as an actor and none of this would have been possible for me without my participation at AMTC.”
Laimarie’s credits include: Host of Caliente for Univision; Backup singer for Ricki Martin; Miss Puerto Rico Universe Finalist; Face for Revlon Cosmetics 2005; Recurring roles in: ”CSI: Miami” (CBS), “Justice” (FOX); Co-Starring roles in: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC), “Raines” (NBC), “In Case of Emergency” (ABC), “The War at Home” (FOX); Films include: GI Jesus, Juarez Mexico and Dark Heart; National Commercials include: McDonalds, Delta Dental, Lifetime, Nations Bank, and Marriott Hotel and Suites.
UPDATE August, 2007: AMTC was so happy to have Laimarie as a Guest Star at our recent convention in Orlando. Here is her post convention email:
“I wanted to thank you for your hospitality this weekend. I truly enjoyed my self talking to the kids and answering their questions. The staff at AMTC was amazing; they made sure all of the guest stars were well taken care of and comfortable. I love that you and your family are Christians and you are putting God first, and making a difference in these future performers’ lives. Being a born again Christian myself, it is beautiful to see how you maintain morality in this competition and you’re letting the industry know that no matter what- you and your family will put the name of Christ above all and exalt his holy name. Once again, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful weekend and most of all for giving me my start years ago. If you want to bring me back another year, I will be more than happy to come back and let the kids know that Roberto and I would have never gotten this far in this industry without AMTC.”
