Carey,
I am probably one of the few people that did not speak with you at the conference, more of an introvert than most. Fortunately my daughter (#288 Lucy Phillips) does not take after me.
So I just wanted to say what a positive experience the whole event was for myself, my wife and daughter. I’m not sure that I can put it into words really, but it makes me feel a bit better just to say “Thank you.”
It is not just the exposure that an event like this can give to talented individuals, it’s a lot more than that. It actually brings tears to my eyes to realise just how much we learnt about our daughter, how confident she was/is and how, even if it does not result in a career, it is certainly going to be a lifeālong passion that will grow her in so many ways.
I was amazed at how confident and talented the children were and self-confidence alone is such a powerful force to carry with you through life. Lucy has certainly grown and we have come back from the convention as different parents. More than ever, I realise that this is not just a fad but that she has got talent, focus, and direction.
We cannot know where this is going to take her in life, but I’m grateful that she has her own direction and we will strive to support her as this develops.
The convention was one of those events that was greater than the sum of its parts. Very well organised with many, many interesting events and presentations.
We all suffered with sickness during the event, which made it hard at times, especially for Lucy in her competitions. (Lesson learnt to take more supplies as access to a pharmacy proved problematic.)
Anyway, I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and all your staff for a very positive experience, and to Lynne Millar for all her support before, during, and after.
Andrew
