Our first Star Award went to an ordained minister who has a gift for acting. That’s what brought her to AMTC. Yet, her life was not always full of God and gifts. Instead, the girl who would become Christina Miner, wife of a rock solid husband, grew up in persecution. She was severely abused as a child and teen, which led her into drug and alcohol dependence as an adult. When she hit rock bottom, Christina called upon God, and, of course, He answered. Christina now helps others as God helped her—even into prisons. In addition to AMTC, Christina is finishing her degree in Sociology and plans to get her Masters. Christina joins the army of performers that God is raising to be a light in the entertainment industry.
Alma Connock was born with a rare disease similar to cerebral palsy. Life was challenging from the beginning. Many do not survive or live in skilled care facilities. Yet, Alma Connock refused to be limited by her body’s limitations. Instead, Alma has lived a full life, loved Scott, given birth to a beautiful daughter, Brianna, and run a successful business, X-Posure Intl. In Newfoundland, Canada. Through X-Posure, Alma has led hundreds of local models, actors, and singers to successful careers all over the world. Through Alma, God shows us the definition of grace under pressure, of courage unabated, of the true beauty to be found amidst the trials of our lives. For Carey, AMTC, and all the people who have had the opportunity to know her, Alma is a hero.
Congratulations to both of our Summer 2010 Star Award recipients!
