Model Conduct #8: Be Hopeful

Lina Alvarez, AMTC Top 100 Success Story

Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer

Romans 12:12 (NAS)

For artists and entertainers from God, hope is an ‘anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast’ (Hebrews 6:19) that gives us confidence in auditions and trials. ‘Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech’ (2 Corinthians 3:12). We win the right jobs at the right times.

Because ‘those who hopefully wait for Me will not be put to shame’ (Isaiah 49:23). After all, ‘hope does not disappoint’ (Romans 5:5). It’s God’s promise to us.

Some performers give up when the going gets tough, but God tells His performers not to ‘grieve as do the rest who have no hope’ (1 Thessalonians 4:13). He has compassion for our journey and blesses our perseverance; ‘You were tired out by the length of your road, yet you did not say, “It is hopeless.” You found renewed strength’ (Isaiah 57:10).

Take comfort in the Psalms. King David had enemies, dream haters, and even self-doubt, like when he said:

‘Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence’ (Psalm 42:5). Others may stop, ‘but as for me, I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more’ (Psalm 71:14).

We all know how it feels to be disappointed. Some of us have even been hated or betrayed, but we are transformed by the power of these words. ‘Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord’ (Psalm 31:24), just like David.

Therefore, we who are actors, models and talent for Christ, will ‘hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful’ (Hebrews 10:23). We will succeed.
