Introducing the new AMTC Insider & Scholarship Program

JUN

2007

Hey everybody, I’m excited to announce some big news today…

Many of you have discovered our new AMTC Insider club. And you may have been wondering when you were going to hear from us…

The Backstory

We’ve always had an email newsletter where we sent out news, success stories, and other fun stuff, but with AMTC Insider we decided to do something a bit more ambitious. From the start, we’ve been looking for a way to make the AMTC Insider program something special. With so many boring email newsletters going around out there, we wanted to provide the AMTC community with something informative, useful, and fun.

So, we started thinking about all the things we might do and then we had a bright idea… Why not award an AMTC scholarship to a lucky Insider every month? As of yesterday, the AMTC Insider registration page stated:

“Every month we give a random AMTC Insider a scholarship to the upcoming AMTC!”

At first this seemed like a great way to reward the Insiders, and a fun thing to do. But then it occurred to us—how do we choose the winner each month? Random selection wouldn’t be fair, so how do we make this fair for everyone? How do we award scholarships to those that really deserve to win? We gave it a lot of thought and today we’re proud to announce the AMTC Insider Scholarship Program.

AMTC Insider Scholarship Program

Millie Lewis AMTC will award a scholarship to attend our international competition to one Insider every month! This scholarship to AMTC, including coaching and advice, is valued at $2,595.00.

How it works

Every month, each and every AMTC Insider has the opportunity to submit an essay on the topic, “Why I deserve an AMTC scholarship.” We’re looking for special life stories, and why you want to be an actor, model, singer, or dancer. What in your life has pushed you toward this dream?

Every month we’ll publish the finalists. At the end of the month, we’ll announce the winner here on the Millie Lewis Blog with your winning essay! Also, you’ll be featured in the next month’s AMTC Insider email newsletter.

Submit your essay

It’s very easy to submit your essay for consideration. Here’s how:

  1. Write your essay. (500 words max)
  2. Prepare at least one photo of yourself. The photo(s) will not be judged and will be used only if you win.
  3. Email your essay, with photo(s) attached, to amtcinsider@millielewis.com with the subject line “AMTC Scholarship Submission”.

The clock’s ticking…

We are eagerly awaiting your submissions over the next month. A winner will be chosen by July 31, 2007. The winner will be posted here on the Millie Lewis Blog shortly thereafter.

For more info, check out the official AMTC Insider Rules page.

Signing off…

We just want to thank all of you for being patient as we’ve been developing AMTC Insider and the scholarship program. We can’t wait to read your essays!

Sincerely,
Carey Arban & the entire Millie Lewis team

Hi, my name is Audrianna and Im 15. My dream is to become a fashion model and I just want to tell you how great of an oppurtunity I think this is! I just went to my first amtc audition in Hattiesburg June 18, and I got a callback from Donna Groff!! I was soo... excited but my parents couldnt afford the convention or registration fee because of my father's fatal heart problems. We had to use the money for his important heart surgery. I am really excited and cant wait to get started on my essay. I really want to thank you and tell you how truly happy I am and how much hope this gives me.

I am excited to see this option available, my son has went to a couple of auditions and been chosen each time but unable to attend due to financial constraits. It's nice to have hope that "if it's meant to be there will always be a way". I am taking the information to him tonight so he can start his essay. P.S. I like that they have to write something to "earn" the scholarship, it instills a sense of pride and ownership for their hard work. GREAT IDEA!

This is a great opportunity for everyone. It is hard for some people sometimes because they don't have as much money as other and this is a costly convention. It is again a great opportunity. Great Thinking!!

This is such a amazing idea! I think it is great for people who love modeling, acting, singing, and dancing, to be given this wonderful opportunity, and also being given the chance to EARN the ability to attend the convention. You can definitely count on me entering an essay!

n response to Kayla: the perfect timing for anyone to pursue an interest in talent is different for each person. We had an 82 year old contestant who always wanted to perform, but she waited until the time was right for her. Needless to say, everyone at AMTC was thrilled and inspired by her.

Many models are married and have families. Some have scars or what others might perceive as disabilities or imperfections. You are right in that what makes you unique can also make you beautiful. Keep faith in yourself, but also, stay humble. If you are meant to be in this industry, you will find yourself in the right time at the right place with a possible connection. You just need to be waiting, open, and prepared for the possibility. Also, make sure it's legit. Good luck!
